I am Monica and this is my blog. It’s a blog about The Yummy Life.
Life is a mix of the yummy and the not-so-yummy. This is a blog about the yummy part. How to live The Yummy Life. As much as possible anyway. Maybe you’ll join me on this yummy journey. I’d like that. I’ll share some things that I think are yummy, maybe you’ll agree or disagree. I hope you’ll let me know. And, just maybe together we can figure out some common ingredients for living The Yummy Life. Group hug.
A little bit about me, so you know where I’m coming from.
I’ve been married for 30 years to King-Man. You’ll be hearing a lot about him. Oh, the stories I have to tell. I married a very unusual interesting man.
We have two grown sons. I could gush on and on about them. But I promise not to do that. Well, most of the time anyway. I can already feel them rolling their eyes. But, I’m a Mom, and I have rights. I get to gush occasionally. It’s a rule.
I’m a city girl with small town roots. That’s if you consider St. Louis a city. That’s where I live. It’s a city to me, because I grew up in a tiny town in Eastern New Mexico. If you’re from New York City, St. Louis is a small town. I get that. But to me, it’s a city. I’ve lived in St. Louis for 24 years—way longer than I’ve lived anywhere else. So, I consider myself a Midwest girl now.
Midwesterners are practical folk. And, I’d say that describes me. Or part of me. King-Man thinks I could be more practical.
I also have a creative side, and I get grumpy when I don't get to express it. There are other things that make me grumpy, but we won't get into that here. So, I guess you could say that I'm practical with a creative side that mostly gets expressed in the kitchen these days. There's a kind of method to my madness, so to speak.
I like food. Making it, eating it, sharing it around the table with friends and family. I like to mess with recipes to make them tastier, healthier, simpler, and easier.
I have some strong beliefs. Here are a few:
FYI, King-Man does not share these beliefs. Particularly the one about baskets. He thinks I have too many baskets. What a ridiculous notion. He’s actually been known to count my baskets and point out to me how many I have. Like I don’t know.
To Summarize: I believe The Yummy Life includes unlimited numbers of cookbooks, cooking magazines, kitchen gadgets, dishes, baskets and containers. King-Man disagrees.
I have other beliefs, but we'll get to those another time.
I love photographs. Taking them, sharing them, decorating with them. I have photos all over my house. Even in my laundry room. No kidding. Photos keep me connected with everyone I love, even when they’re far away from me. There is a down side to having so many photos. They are a regular reminder of how much hotter thinner and younger I used to be. But mostly they just remind me of the yummy things in my life.
I am never without my camera. My family tolerates loves that about me.
The Yummy Life blog will be my random thoughts and tips about creating traditions and memories along the way--in the kitchen and elsewhere. I hope you’ll come back and join me on this journey in pursuit of The Yummy Life. A girl can’t have too many yummy friends.
Until later,
Make it yummy day!
